...to have a conversation on the telephone without children fighting in the background, one of the waving you down, tugging at you or occasionally (usually my 2yo and 4yo) jumping on your back and squeezing hugging your neck???

Awwww... they're just showing you how much they love and need their mommy. ;-D
Nope not in my house. As soon as I get on the phone either the dog starts barking, or the boys start goofing off or start fighting. But I have found that the older they get the less phone calls I get so I'm really not on the phone that much.
no!
So very true. That happens here too. There something about getting on the phone.
That is why 99% of my phone conversations are on my cell when the kids are buckled up in their seat and I'm driving!
My kids always make more noise when the phone is by my ear!
I really do not believe it's possible :). When it does occacionaly happen around here, I find my self wordless because I dont have those little interuptions :)
The thing I remember the plainest at that stage in life for me was.......finally getting to take a nice, leisurely bath without having a child hanging over the bathtub!!!

Good question. At least I know it occurs in other people's homes - not just mine. :)

Alex can be totally quiet and content but there is something that happens to him when the phone reaches my ear where he does the same thing...yelling, running, etc.
And to think that... someday you'll miss this. AHHHHH...
Oh how I remember those days!
I'm thinking...NO. But good luck girl!
I miss you - where ya been? Hope life is good there!
I am convinced that its not possible.
I agree- it's just not possible!
I think they have built in radar for when you are on the phone! Now the dog gets in on the action as well!!
Not in our house! And, I'm thinking not anytime soon.
Amber, I like the idea of Tomorrow's Dreams. I am going to have to throw that into the hat of final ideas. Melissa's Idea Garden also appeals to me. The problem with using M.O.M. is that there are so many blogs that use 'mom' in the title, I am afraid I would be lost in the shuffle.
As to your question here...all children are given a large booklet on things they must do to annoy their parents. One of them is to become noisy or needy while the parent is on the phone! It is required!
Yes, it is possible.....but not for at least another 18 years......
well, not in this house it's not. acutally it's not usually hugging and loving going on. it's usually the time they hit me up with questions like, "can i get out the craft box with glitter and glue?", or "can i run next door and see if aaron can play?", or "can i eat three more cookies?"
they usually mistake my wagging finger and glaring eyes for a YES!
